Last section â youâve put in the hard work; now it's time to double-check and submit!
Formatting & Spell Checks - Consistency is Key
Ensure all of your text is aligned: company names should be left-aligned, bullets should be visually aligned all the way down the page, and dates should be right-aligned
Consider adding subtle design elements like lines or borders to separate sections
Double-check spelling & grammar
Is your contact information up to date and spelled correctly? How about your email and LinkedIn URLs?
TIP: this is a huge one weâve seen! Make sure your LinkedIn goes to your actual page and is a custom URL. If your contact information isnât correct you might accidentally be missing out on that callback you were hoping for.
Content
Donât include any references or âreferences upon requestâ as this is outdated and takes up valuable real estate
Double-check the requirements in the job description - have you clearly highlighted them on your resume to allow for a quick scan from a recruiter?
TIP: Crafting customized resumes for each role may initially appear time-consuming, but it often proves to be the pivotal factor in standing out among candidates
Have you included numbers wherever possible to quantify your impact?
Do you have enough variety of action verbs?
Saving
Save your resume as a PDF, not a Word doc! That way, you'll be sure it is opening correctly and none of the formatting will be corrupted
Make sure the bullet points carry over properly â a great reason to keep formatting simple
Name your file as follows: Last Name, First Name Resume
TIP: If you are applying for different types of roles, keep a few different formats with focused bullets for finance, BizOps, or strategy roles
